Apples of New York

The classic two volume reference source, Apples of New York (1905), by Spencer Ambrose Beach of the New York Agricultural Experiment Station, is now available online from Cornell's Core Historical Literature of Agriculture. http://chla.library.cornell.edu/c/chla/ ... 19829.html

Unfortunately, although the photo-images of the text are clean and very readable, the illustrations are reproduced in black and white. Fortunately color images from both volumes are available from a Penn State site, except the project seemed to have run out of steam and few images for apples from S-Z in either "Volume I: Winter Apples" or "Volume II: Summer and Fall Apples" are available. LodiNY,

Thank you so much for sharing this with our readers. The Apples of New York is one of those "must have" books for anyone who wants to learn more about apples and details on the varieties that existed at the turn of the century.

The links you provided point to a great online resource for those who have not yet been able to purchase this apple collectible.
