Canada imported 130,000 metric tons of apples during the 2004/2005 season, with a large proportion of those imports coming from the United States. The country consumed and estimated 302,000 metric tons meaning 43% of the apples consumed were not grown in the country. This compares to a 7% export-to-consumption ratio in the United States.
