New England apple harvest projected to decline

A poor apple harvest is expected across New England this fall because of the wet and cold spring, agriculture officials are predicting, but Vermont could end up the region's top producer of the fruit.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service is projecting that New England's apple crop will come in at 3.7 million bushels this year, a 16 percent decline from 2004.
