Australian apple growers still worried about fireblight risk
Australian apple growers say they are still concerned about the risk New Zealand apples pose to their industry.
An Australian Biosecurity draft report has paved the way for New Zealand exports, but still insists on strict conditions to minimise the risk of the fireblight pest making its way there.
They include extensive orchard and fruit inspections, and disinfecting apples in chlorine as a safeguard against fireblight.
