Apple imports likely to increase 28%
India's apple imports are likely to increase up to 28% by 2013 if the government reduces import tariff and the marketing margins also shrink. Rising demand for imported apples has been driven by rising incomes and the removal of quantitative import restrictions. However, higher prices compared to other domestically available fruits will restrict the increase in consumption.
