Description: Lamb Abbey Orchards is a 15 acre fruit orchard in Union, Maine, 20 miles from the Atlantic, looking out to the hills of Palermo, Maine. Our orchard is in its infancy and is not yet open to the public. When mature, it will be comprised of 230 varieties of fruit, mostly great old heirlooms that you won’t likely ever find in your local supermarket. We’re growing 120 different apples 73 of which we’ll be selling. We believe these are some of the very best dessert and pie varieties out there and we’re delighted to be able to make them available to you. Most of the remaining 47 are classic American and English cider apples for use in our own ciders and cider products. A few others are turned into dried apple rings, apple butters and jellies. We also grow 110 additional varieties of fruit, specifically pears, plums, peaches, apricots, cherries, medlars, haskaps and pawpaws able to withstand a blustery Zone 5 coastal Maine winter. Nearly 25 varieties are still in USDA Quarantine, soon to be grafted, as we imported them from collections in the UK and the Czech Republic. Many are in the US for the very first time.
