Braeburn
Parentage / Origin: Possibly an open pollinated seedling of Lady Hamil; New Zealand, 1952

Harvest / Season: Harvest: Late; Season: November - April
Description: Fruit is medium to large, red striped with an orange red blush on a yellow background. The flesh is pale, cream colored, crisp and juicy with a pleasant subacid tart flavor. Fruits store for four months.
Tree Characteristics: The fruit hangs well, comes into bearing early and is a heavy producer. Has a tendency toward biennial bearing unless thinned. Trees are nonvigorous and should not be planted on dwarf rootstocks.

Parentage / Origin: Sport of Braeburn; Havelock North, New Zealand

Description: Redder and ripening 3 to 5 days earlier than Braeburn.

Bramley's Seedling
Parentage / Origin: Propagated from a notable seedling; c. 1809 Nottinghamshire, England
Harvest / Season: Harvest: early October, Season: October - Mar
Description: Fruit large, greenish-yellow with broad broken brown and red stripes. Flesh firm, juicy and sharply acid, high in vitamin C.
Tree Characteristics: Scab and mildew resistant. Tree large, vigorous and spreading, tolerates some shade. Heavy and regular bearer. Triploid

Breakey
Parentage / Origin: Seedling of Calville Rouge; Developed in 1960s, Canada
Harvest / Season: Harvest: mid-Aug
Description: Medium-sized fruit, yellow-green with red stripes

Parentage / Origin: England, 1890

Description:
Tree Characteristics: Tree of medium size and spreading. Heavy cropper. Bears young, good pollinator.

Britemac
Parentage / Origin: (Melba, McIntosh) x (Kildare, Langford Beauty); Introduced in 1964
Harvest / Season: Season same as McIntosh. Harvest: mid season, late September.
Description: Good McIntosh type. Large and attractive, brightly colored and the best for eating. Sweet, juicy, crisp, white flesh.
Tree Characteristics: It is very hardy, moderately vigorous.

Brock
Parentage / Origin: Golden Delicious x McIntosh; Maine
Harvest / Season:
Description: Fruit is large and pinkish red over cream in color. Flavor is mildly sweet but distinctive.
Tree Characteristics: Tree is very vigorous and spreading. A proven northern variety.

Brown Sweet
Parentage / Origin:
Harvest / Season: Season: September to mid winter
Description: Fruits large ovate to oblong conic. Often narrow sharply towards the apex, sometimes ribbed and irregular. Skin moderately thick, tough, green or yellow, sometimes with red cheek and often russetted.   Flesh is tinged with yellow, fine and rather tender. Juicy, very sweet

Brownlees' Russet
Parentage / Origin: England, 1846
Harvest / Season: Harvest: October, Season: October - Mar
Description: Medium-sized fruit covered with brown-green russet. Crisp, tender flesh. Flavor is rich and aromatic.
Tree Characteristics: Compact tree with deep pink flowers.

Buckingham
(Also known as: Queen or Fall Queen)
Parentage / Origin:
Harvest / Season: Harvest: September
Description: Pale yellow flushed and mottled with red, and striped and blushed with bright red. The surface is covered with white dots. Shape is oblate and somewhat irregular with tough thick skin is tough and flesh juicy, yellow, crisp and sprightly subacid. It has a small core and a short stalk.
Tree Characteristics: The tree is a moderately twiggy grower that bears full crops annually. Low chill requirements. It is slightly subject to fireblight but has no major apple diseases.

Buff
(Also known as: Granny Buff)
Parentage / Origin: North Carolina, recorded in 1854
Harvest / Season: Harvest: late September / early October
Description: Large in size, the shape is flat, rectangular, convex and it is ribbed at the eye and prominently on the body. The greenish white flesh is fine-grained, crisp and sweet in flavor.
Tree Characteristics: The vigorous and upright growing tree is a heavy producer.

Bulmer's Norman
Parentage / Origin: France, imported to England in early 1900s
Harvest / Season: Harvest: mid-October
Description: Specificly a cider variety. Bittersweet flavor.
Tree Characteristics: Tree large and spreading. Triploid

Burgundy
Parentage / Origin: Monroe/Macoun x Antonovka
Harvest / Season: Harvest: September
Description: Fruit is large, round, very intense pigment, almost blackish red. Solid blush without stripes. Skin is smooth and glossy. Flesh crisp, sub-acid, very good eating quality. Fruits hang well for 3 weeks after harvest ripe. Storage life is short, no more than a month.
Tree Characteristics: Susceptible to Cedar-Apple Rust.
