Melba
Parentage / Origin: Macintosh x Liveland Raspberry; Raised in 1898 at Central Experiment Farm in Ottawa, Canada. Introduced in 1924
Harvest / Season: Harvest: mid-August.
Description: Attractive, high quality, yellow washed with crimson fruit. Very white, firm, crisp, sweet flesh. A sweet sub-acid flavor.
Tree Characteristics: Tree moderately vigorous, productive and bears at a young age. Bruises very easily. Hardy to -50 degrees.

Melon
Parentage / Origin:
Harvest / Season: Ripens mid-season
Description: Fruits very good quality. Medium large, skin yellow, red striped, round, oblate, conical with mild flavor.
Tree Characteristics: Tree round and spreading, slightly tender to cold temperatures. Bears young and biennially. A very heavy bearer, needs thinning.

Melrose
Parentage / Origin: Jonathan x Red Delicious; Developed at the Agricultural Experiment Station in Wooster, Ohio. Introduced in 1944.
Harvest / Season: Harvest: mid-late October, Season: October - February
Description: Official Ohio State apple. Large flattened fruit. Yellowish green skin flushed and streaked dark red with russet spots. Firm, coarse, juicy creamy white flesh. Slightly acid flavor. Very good cooking and dessert qualities. Best after Christmas when it develops it's fruity aroma.
Tree Characteristics: Tree is vigorous, productive, annual bearer. Growth habit is spreading and moderate. Crop is heavy but biennial.

Melrouge
Parentage / Origin: Cross of Red Delicious x Jonathan
Harvest / Season:
Description: Redder sport of Melrose with more intense flavor. An excellent flavored dessert apple. Size is large and roundish flat. Very good for cooking. Stores well.
Tree Characteristics: Growth habit is very spreading.

Mendocino Cox
Parentage / Origin: Sport of Cox's Orange Pippin

Description: Yellow with red stripes.

Merton Delight
Parentage / Origin: Cox's Orange Pippin x Golden Russet; From England, introduced to U.S. in 1953
Harvest / Season: Season early.
Description: Size medium, shape intermediate to flat, skin yellow, striped pinkish red. Flesh tender, crisp, creamy. Flavor sweet to subacid.

Merton's Charm
Parentage / Origin: McIntosh x Cox's Orange Pippin; From England, raised 1933, named in 1962.
Harvest / Season: Season early to mid.
Description: Size medium; shape flat, rectangular, convex, not ribbed; skin greenish yellow, sometimes with a slight brownish red flush. Flesh tender, crisp, creamy white; flavor sweet subacid.
Tree Characteristics:

Milo Gibson
Parentage / Origin:
Harvest / Season: Ripens in mid-season.
Description: Red and yellow fruit. A fine tasting apple with unique licorice flavor.
Tree Characteristics: Hardy to -50 degrees with occasional winter injury.
