Description: Medium or larger. Dark red with dark red flesh. Juice is red. Not for fresh eating.
Tree Characteristics: Wood and leaves are red. Extremely hardy.

Parentage / Origin: Raritan x PRI 1018-101; PRI (Purdue, Rutgers, Illinois Co Op), introduced in 1981.
Harvest / Season:
Description: Medium size, glossy fruit with 90% bright red color. Smooth, waxy, russet-free skin. Light flesh is crisp and juicy.
Tree Characteristics: Tree bears annually. Immune to scab and cedar apple rust. Moderately resistant to fire blight and mildew.

Redsleeves
Parentage / Origin: Exeter Cross x scab resistant seedling.; Introduced in 1986
Harvest / Season: Harvest: late August
Description: Red flushed, smooth skinned, dessert variety. Sweet, lightly aromatic, crisp, juicy flesh; can be weakly flavored.
Tree Characteristics: Blossom is frost resistant. Tree is moderately vigorous. Crop is heavy and resistant to scab and mildew.

Redwell
Parentage / Origin: Open pollinated seedling of Scott Winter
Harvest / Season: Harvest: October - November; Season: October - November
Description: Large, well colored fruit; red over yellow skin. Cream colored flesh. Mild, excellent flavor. Keeps until January in storage.
Tree Characteristics: Vigorous tree has strong framework and bears annually. Partially dwarfing in habit.

Regent
Parentage / Origin: Red Duchess x Red Delicious; University of Minnesota, introduced 1963
Harvest / Season: Harvest: October; Season: October - December
Description: Medium size fruit. Bright red over yellow. Very pleasing flavor and texture. Honeyed, plenty of acidity, crisp, crackling, juicy flesh. Cooked keeps shape, light flavor, sweet, fruity. Delicately flavored. Fruits store into the winter.
Tree Characteristics: Tree is vigorous, bears young, sets good crops. Resistant to cedar apple rust. Susceptible to fire blight and scab. Good, but not excellent, winter hardiness. Pre-harvest drop is a problem.

Reine de Reinette

Description: Gourmet dessert apple. Flavor on the sweet side.

Reinette Gris Du Canada
Parentage / Origin: France prior to 1771
Harvest / Season: Late season
Description: Medium size apple, pale green skin with a russet coat and first white flesh. Sharp, dry, sweet, crisp texture and flavor. Excellent keeper.

Description: Larger than Golden Russet. Pleasant, very sweet flavor. Brownish yellow with faint red stripes on sunny side. Prominent lenticels. Picks 1 to 2 weeks earlier than Golden Russet
Tree Characteristics: Weak to moderate vigor. Upright-spreading growth habit. Hardier than Golden Russet. Partially resistant to scab.

Retina
Parentage / Origin: Pillnitz, Germany
Harvest / Season:
Description: Light pink-orange over green-yellow. Long conical shape.
Tree Characteristics: Vf scab resistance broken, but still good overall scab resistance.

Reverand Morgan
Parentage / Origin: Seedling of Granny Smith; Houston, TX
Harvest / Season: Ripens very early
Description: Pinkish red colored skin with good quality fruit. Superb flavor and texture.
Tree Characteristics: Self fruitful. Disease resistant.

Revival

Description: Large, orange-yellow with red stripes, crisp and very good taste, looks like Red Delicious and Winter Banana, better than either parent.
